Then you would like the movie marathon I did with Prometheus titled When A Woman Turns Fear Into Strength. You guys can check it out on my blog.

The theme I tried to convey with the marathon I did and blogged about was that these women started out as being ordinary females but went through a transformation throughout each of their ordeals. By the end of each film they experience a resurrection or rebirth as their strength grows. For example, Sandra Bullock in Gravity finds the will to live again through Clooney coaching her and Ripley overcoming her fear of the Xenomorph at the end of Aliens and becoming a parent to Newt. Ripleys transformation in Alien and Aliens is incredible, even Alien 3 if you want to go that far with it. Even the females in Prometheus were appealing and had a dose of Ripley in them.

You should have included Terminator 1 and 2. It fits your requirement better than Alien. Don't get me wrong, I love Alien - but Ripley started out as a strong character so there is not much of a transformation. Sarah Connor, on the other hand, began as a meek and submissive girl and became a fierce and fearless dominating figure.
