Pink Floyd – the lyrics are the best, as well as the themes in each album. The music is wonderful. Not technically proficient, but that's not what music is about. If it sounds great, it doesn't matter how easy it is to play.
"Time" - again, amazing lyrics, the vocals are amazing, and there's a lot of little things to enjoy. That ticking sound is not a clock, but Roger Waters plucking the high notes (while muting them) on his bass repeatedly. He had another idea of the drums coming in before the bar, which he's said was to make you realize that "time is running out" and that he learned after a lifetime of the "Life begins after education" is bullshit, that "life starts at dot and keeps on going".
"Us and Them" - again, great lyrics and music. There's a few couplets that give me shivers, wishing I would have wrote them.
"Listen, son, said the man with the gun, there's room for you inside" (so much said in just one sentence)
The voices on "Dark Side of the Moon" bring out the dark side. Roger would give people questions on note cards, and have them answer, and would insert them in the right place… Questions such as "When was the last time you were violent" and on the flip-side the even better question, "Were you in the right?"
THE WALL - Roger felt a disconnect with the audience going from small halls to stadiums, so he constructed a concept, album, and a concert where there's a ****ing wall between the band and the audience.. Even a "surrogate" band where the crowd cheers, despite it not being Pink Floyd at all.. Image vs. Perception… It's too great of an album to spoil. Listen to it with the lyrics. Don't watch the movie.
The Doors - There was no music like that in January of 1967, "The End" for example. All live. All great. Great vocals, music, catchy phrases, creative song titles, and then you have the amazing rhythms to go along with the dark, mysterious music, full of jazz, rock, blues, (almost) everything
    Break on Through (Bossanova)
    Light My Fire (Latin)
    Moonlight Drive (Tango)
Cars Hiss By My Window (Blues)
    Love Her Madly (Rock)
    Wintertime Love (Jazz)
    Roadhouse Blues (Shuffle)
    Strange Days (Tribal)
The WASP (Military cadence with jazz)
Spanish Caravan (consistent pounding 2nd verse)
    Land Ho (Galloping rhythm)
Steely Dan - The songs told stories, but the music was sophisticated with the mu chords, mixing what a pianist does with both hands. 13th chords. A chord should give a feel, a mood.
Supertramp – Prog-pop, interesting music and lyrics, and criticized school with "School" five years before Roger Waters wrote "Another Brick in The Wall". Two main guys (Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies) who blended their differences into one hell of a meal. Roger also knew when it was time to leave, because one guy wants the canvas painted blue, the other wants it red (quotes from Rick Davies)
Led Zeppelin - one only has to listen to "Achilles Last Stand" (wonderful collage of guitars, which the drums follow perfectly) and "Kashmir" not just a great riff, but a wonderful string arrangement.
The Who – The themes of Quadrophenia, and Tommy (although it's not a favorite album). Great musicians, one of the best rhythm sections along with Led Zeppelin.

It's like every song they have is at least good.
They have a lot of meaningful lyrics.

Another modern band with 95% quality songs is Five Finger Death Punch.
Very good stuff and high energy music.

Same riffs. Same ****ty growl-like vocals.

I hope it made you think about Filmtards and then you died a little inside as you realized you were thinking about this place when you weren't even posting.

                                Interpret intelligence however you wish
And there you go. For me, music is a very personal thing. It conjures all sorts of memories and emotions, depending of what I'm listening to. I assume it's that way for everyone. I've never really thought of what you term as Intelligent Music.
I love a little bit of everything. Music can set a mood. In that regard, it's all "intelligent".
                                Here's a little something for today…
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.
                                Fasten Your Seatbelts….
It's Going To Be A Bumpy Night!
