Eilish isn't one of my favorite singers, but she brings a dark, angsty vibe to pop that's been missing since Marilyn Manson's heyday and, tbh, she's the first female I can think of who's done it in mainstream music.

Yeah, but Billie isn’t just alternative pop singer. She has an operatic Broadway voice doing pop songs. Her songs often span 2-3 octaves. No normal person can karaoke her songs. She’s a soprano which is rare in pop music: which is why her songs have an ambient hypnotic floating-on-the-clouds quality to them, like Amy Lee in Bring me to Life.
