This voice needs no introductory hype.

I don't really think about the "colours" of the singers I listen to. But I'll answer anyway. I'm an Otis fan too (who isn't?). Also, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Donna Summer, The Commodores, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Kool & the Gang, Smokey Robinson (with and without The Miracles), The Drifters, The O'Jays, The Spinners (a lot of the "The" bands, I suppose).
                And of course The Crystals.

I love Otis Redding's smooth soulful vocals.
It's not just sentimental no, no, no
She has her grief and care, yeah, yeah, yeah
But the soft words they are spoke so gentle, yeah
It makes it easier, easier to bear, yeah
You won't regret it no, no
Young girls they don't forget it
Love is their whole happiness, yeah, yeah, yeah
                    But it's all so easy
All you got to do is try
                    Try a little tenderness
                    Yeah
All you got to do is, man, hold her when you wanna
His vocals in that verse are genius.
I love the way Otis sings that song. But have you listened to the lyrics? Isn't it a little creepy for an adult man to be singing about the repressed sexuality of young girls and giving young men advise on how to woo them?
Maybe it's the PC culture influencing my perspective.
