My point is that Pearl Jam is more mainstream than it is grunge.
Lady, Queen is classic rock. It doesn't get more middle of the road rock than Queen. Their first two albums were great. Then I guess by that time Mercury had been ****ed up the ass so many times he went 100% camp.

I don’t know what Queen you’ve been listening to but they’ve never been “middle of the road”. They played around with so many different styles of music. Opera in Bohemian Rhapsody. Country/ Honky tonk I’m Crazy little thing called love.
There’s Nothing “ middle of the road” about incorporating different genres. Yes they are classic rock, Doesn’t mean they stuck to one sound.

"Smoke on the Water" is a classic. I don't see how anyone cannot appreciate it. But "Highway Star" is one of the worst songs ever recorded.

Simply not true. Popularity has nothing to do with music quality. Any band that is good will likely become popular.

I'm not saying no good bands are popular. I'm just saying popularity is not the test. Plenty of great bands have small followings.
