Do Zeppelin deserve all the praise?

Yeah, they're amazing, they're my second favorite band, but all the plagiarism is pretty damning. Covers are one thing, blatantly taking credit is another.

They played blues rock. A music form that has been traded, covered and altered for decades prior to Zepp coming along. They carried on a tradition at the same time as putting their own spin on things.
Plus their inherent originality.
They deserve all their praise and only some criticism.

They played blues rock.
That's a gross oversimplification in my opinion. They also played folk, progressive, heavy metal, etc. and a lot of their music actually defies genre classification. Take something like "Down by the seaside". How would you classify it? Is it rock? Is it blues? Is it country? Is it soul? It's a little bit of all those genres melded together.
