      To a degree, possibly, but I'd wager the more important factor is that the black population in the UK is relatively small.

        then that there aren't so many black singers / bands is understandable & logical.
        It might have something to do with there being so few black bands, too. Loads of solo singers, rappers, souly groups etc, but I can't think of one regular-set-up band (ie guitars, drums, vocals) with all black musicians, & the UK loves its bands.

          The UK has produced quite a few reggae bands.
          I have a sneaking suspicion that there are probably more successful multi-racial bands in the UK than there are in for unstance the US - the Specials, The Beat, The Selecter, Simple Minds, The Libertines, UB40 spring to mind

                Neneh Cherry, who has a couple of mentions here, was born in Stockholm to a Swedish mother and Sierra Leonean father.
                Until a few years ago I always thought she was American (!)

                              That's a hard one 'cause there are a few but I am not sure if they are British or European. Two that come to mind are Seal and my favourite, Skin (Skunk Anansie).


                              Make Same Sex Marriages Legal In Australia 'cause we deserve to have the same rights as everybody else and shouldn't be controlled by backwards people with outdated views
