Oh yeah, forgot about them. When it comes to 90s Christian rock with a morsel of mainstream appeal, I liked DC Talk a little better, but "Flood" wasn't a bad song.

I've heard of these guys, but until now I think the only thing I knew about them was that they were Christian. I would not have been able to tell you what their song was or if they even had any big crossover songs.
That said, it doesn't sound too bad. It sounds like much of what '90s alt-rock stations were playing, and I personally feel the '90s sound has aged better than the '80s sound for the most part. That hook alone is one I could imagine House of Freaks replicating (God, I wish those guys were bigger than they were.) Also, I don't think listeners would have immediately picked up on them being religious because spiritual imagery from non-religious bands was a fairly big thing back then. Look at Live. Any of their singles could be mistaken for Christian rock, yet they insist they weren't a religious band.
And good for that singer for sticking up for gay marriage. There's a lot of Christians who are still unwilling to do so.
RIP Roger Ebert

I'm the guy on that video commenting that the music video for Flood looks a whole lot like the one for Vow by Garbage. Both from the same year, no less.
I love 90s alt and college rock, so it's surprising I hadn't heard Flood before. Again, it doesn't seem like a religious songI might have assumed it was from the Gin Blossoms if you didn't tell me.
The part where Todd comments on how the band was much sunnier and wearing bowling shirts by 1999 is hilarious. "Hey now, you're a godstar, get your lord on, go pray!"
If you must blink, do it now. -

Honestly, this song got me through some rough times in my life. That is, I listened to it, and it eased the pain, even only temporarily.
One hit wonder? Maybe. I thought "Unforgetful You" was a hit for them, too.
