to be the last great year of music, once "Macarena" became a major hit that was around the time when music really started to go downhill (at least Top 40 music that is)
Yeah, after that, it started to shift towards bubblegum pop artists and groups that the late 90s/early 2000s are notoriously known for.

Why don't you explain your 'thinking' - cite some examples as to why - & perhaps you could also have the fuqqing decency to reply to those who've replied to youor do you suddenly feel silly & out of your depth?
What difference would 'accepting it' make anyway? -

Even though I won't deny there was some great music released that year, 2007 was the year I quit listening to modern popular music, because there was so much popular music then that I didn't like at all.

Oh, if we're going for a nostalgia driven thread about when our emotive connection to a broad span of music (released within that year) suddenly dropped, I'm going to have to go with 1987 as the pivot year.
