Good one, but then it's confused by the use of the word 'musician'.
I'd hope it was Mr Cancer-on-Music, Andre Rieu, or perhaps Mr Cancer-on-Filmscoring, Morricone, or maybe Mr Cancer-on-Piano, Lang Lang. I know they have legions of fans, but perhaps they are universally loathed more than appreciated; they certainly should be, & my hatred for them is pungent enough to count for at least a million others'. -

Niche? Time Magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential people on the planet. His albums sell by the fuqqing truckload, but take it from me, he is hated. Everyone in my office hates him for a start. I don't know anyone who likes him, though my 'circle' is predominantly a musical one. I just wish he knew how much people hate him, & why.

Glitter is probably the most well known proven pedo musician. Who was the bloke from that Welsh rock band who got done for raping babies though? You don't get much more evil than that, although he is probably not that widely known.
I'd say the most hated musician is probably Michael Jackson. You have to be mega famous to be most hated and that narrows the field a lot.

The thing with Gary Glitter is that he was a one hit wonder and that one song is way more well known than his actual name. Hes not someone whos really talked about enough to be the most hated. Hes certainly not like Justin Bieber where people wont shut up about him, ofcourse i think Beiber hate has calmed down.

Yeah but theres still a ton of people who continue to kiss the bands ass and call them the greatest band of all time. Consider how many people are excited over Hardwired even though the two released songs are underwhelming.

I never understood the backlash over that. He was fighting for the little bands, the independents that needed sales to survive and were being destroyed by file sharing. He had the massive resources required to do battle, since it took big money to fight it.
I admire him for it.
