I'm sure some brilliant regisseur has already staged a version of
    Don Giovanni
where the title character goes out humping the Commendatore - but Eva's saying the Commendatore scene is
    not
    sexy.

Maybe at this point we should just defer the discussion to this guy:

        There are soooo many.
        (1) ETA:
'Sexy' encloses both sexual and sensual for me in this context.
        [/ETA]
        I don't necessarily think of '
        humping
        '
        in this context.

                  Well, act two of
                  Tristan und Isolde
                  is supremely
                  sexual
                  , though not exactly
                  sexy
, which implies urbanity and elegance.
But then Tristan's monologue in act three is of course
                  anti
                  -sexual.

What exactly does this mean? I don't feel that way at all. Urbanity can be sexy, too. Elegance maybe not. But I still don't understand. Could you please elaborate further?

That's what I meant. "Sexy" implies the combination of sex and urbanity.

Why doesn't urbanity imply sensuality, as well?

Maybe it does. My point here is, Casanova is sexy. A caveman many be sexual, but he's not sexy.

Think of Baudelaire and all that noir. It is both sensual and sexual.
