I told a friend I'd visit them today too. Then I remembered I don't drive so I asked my sister to take me. Then I remembered she has a job and can't. Then I remembered I can't cook so I'm starving to death until she can bring me chicken nuggets.

Stay at home. Be open with the other party. Ask them if they'll be unhappy if you don't meet the commitment. If they're like you, they'll also be happier having the day alone. If not, go. Don't promise anything again. Do it closer to the day.

I'm exactly the same. I'll make plans but then as it gets closer to when I need to go out I just don't want to anymore. Sometimes I'll force myself but other times I just say I can't make it. Something I realised a couple of years ago is that you don't always need to justify why you don't want to do something. It's perfectly ok to just say you can't make it (I mean for casual things, not if anyone has gone to any great lengths or expense) rather than even trying to come up with a lame ass excuse.

I don't go to engagements. I'll come to your wedding, but I'm not doing it twice. I'm also selective as to whose wedding I attend. Children's birthday parties are generally out. I'll go every other invite. I don't do adult birthdays, mother's day or father's day. No thanksgiving, xmas, etc.

I can totally relate. When I was a kid, I had a few good friends that I hung out with. But from young adulthood on, I’ve pretty much always been a loner, and prefer to do things on my own schedule. I rarely leave home, and prefer it that way. Other people are work. I know that's not a healthy attitude, but it is what it is.
The only physical friend that I’m still in contact with, is my Scottish friend that lives in England. And since I’m in the US, we don’t see each other very often. Though we regularly communicate on Telegram.

my plans for the day were entirely selfish: me and me alone. but then my friend wakes up puking and shaking and I get the pleasure of doing her laundry. "jeans" are ****ing heavy! what kind of a retard takes jobs which require "jeans", when you live in Miami!
