Yes I do. Glad you agree.
I was trained on the M-16 in the Army. The AR-15 is simply the
civilian version
of the M-16. The only difference is that the AR-15 can't fire
fully automatic
like the M-16. So I know the weapon forwards and backwards.
When I purchased them, the gun dealer phoned the FBI to make sure I was a good boy. So the FBI knows I have the weapons. As far as I'm concerned, that's all the government involvement which is necessary. And I do
not
need a permit for these guns. I live in a sane State
run by adults
, and
not
dewy-eyed Leftist children.
And fortunately I have never had to use any of them in self defense, nor do I wish to.
If you would read the attached article, you would discover:
Guns prevent an estimated
2.5 million crimes a year,
or
6,849 every day
. Most often, the gun is never fired.
Every year,
400,000 life-threatening violent crimes
are prevented using firearms.
60% of convicted felons
admitted they avoided committing crimes when they
knew
the victim was armed.
40%
admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim
might be armed.
Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home
because they fear being shot.
Fewer than 1 percent of firearms are used in the commission of a crime.

I
did
answer your questions. And as my Bro
AshBroomstick
asked, what is your problem with my owning guns? Is that really any of your business?

Okay. I was brought up with guns. My father was ex-military. We knew how to care for them, how to break them down, put them together, we were brought to gun ranges and taught how to fire them - accurately. I inherited all my father's guns when he died. I don't need guns. I turned them into the police (all except the Lugar which I gave to my brother).
I'm always curious the rationale behind why people NEED their guns. It's always funny to me. I don't think that, unless you are law enforcement or military, you NEED a gun. -

Excellent. And I have no problem with you getting rid of your guns. That is your right as an American, just as it's my right to keep mine. But I disagree with your opinion that you don't need them. Having one could prevent you from being raped and/or killed. So please be safe.
And yes I NEED my guns for self defense and defense against a potentially hostile government, like Biteme's.

Let's see, I'm 68 years old and haven't had any issues. Having a gun wouldn't have prevented it in any case. Possibly it could have been taken from me by my assailant and used against me, but we'll never know.
I guess I'm fortunate enough not to have such a distrust, and don't have to rely on a gun to live my life.
