        A great guess and one I thought of too, but unfortunately he’s not our man. He was born 1968 and was 4 years old when
        Sleuth
        came out.

                Sorry for responding so late, but I just saw this. I don’t think so… Melly’s voice doesn’t sound that close to the Sleuth singer’s to me.

                  Surprised my account here still works, but:
                  At v2.0, we found a suspect who I really think was our man—Don Percival (1930-2013), a music producer who didn’t have much of a career as a singer but who sang a faux-’30s tune for
                  Blade Runner
                  (1982).
                  Compare Blade Runner
                  and Sleuth
                  I really think they sound alike, and Percival’s now my most promising lead. What say you?
