to link your account, first enter your profile page (click your username), then scroll down to the just added "
Sync with IMDb account
" section. now, just follow these instructions:
Instructions:- Press the 'Get Key' button to receive a key.
- Copy and paste the key into the first line of your bio using the edit profile option for your IMDb account and save it.
- Enter the address of your IMDb profile (Ex.
http://www.imdb.com/user/ur12345678/
) into the second input box and press the 'Sync Profile' button to sync your profiles. - After you have synced your accounts you can delete the key from your IMDb bio.
- Reload this page to see if your IMDb posts show up.
once completed, your account is claimed, even if your imdb username differs from your
Filmboards.com
name. all of your old posts will now be included in your own post history on this site. now no one can steal your identity.
let me know if it worked.
EDIT: the very helpful, longtime user
holatKolnoa
has offered her own directions for getting this to work. if you are having issues with the above, try following her
much more detailed instructions
Make sure to install the Filmboards browser extension to put the boards back inside IMDb like they never left! Available for
Chrome
and
Firefox
*some mobile browsers may not display a key when the button is clicked. trying to figure that out
**patent pending
here is what imdb will look like with the add-on installed, which takes only seconds!

What a great addition to the rest of your hard work! Sorry I can't try it myself. Cancelled my account with you-know-who when the boards closed. Anyway - never posted a lot over there - more of a lurker.
Much more fun using this site. Sometimes you even get an entertaining response! -

Very cool. Got it to work, but the lack of IE support on the 'get key' button confuses me. I figure it'd be easy to do cross-browser support, but what do I know?
I'm thinking… especially since you don't even change the usernames of the original posts… that it'd be best to leave them as they are, and don't let users edit them. That would preserve the "archive" sense of your ambitions here.
While I wouldn't have any inherent use for linking imdb accounts to my site, I'd still like to know a bit about how that works, if you'd care to tell me. Here, or in PM, if you don't want to give your secrets away.

i don't know why it's not working in internet explorer either. current theory: because IE sucks. i'll get it working though, somehow.
there's not much magic involved, but it'd be kind of boring to detail here. we must keep NZer entertained. i'll send you something in private message. -

It works!!!
Nimda, you are
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! ! !
I've got posts on there from over 10 years ago that I had totally forgotten about, and now, thanks to the magic of Nimda, they are all right back in my posting history.
Screw you IMDb–Life goes on just fine without ya!!! -

edit: should probably add a way to sort by date. currently sorts by board
Yes, by the boards' numbers! At this point it's not user-friendly enough for someone with a lengthy posting history.
I tried setting it up in Chrome, but could not get a key. It was easy in Firefox. Thanks!
