I've seen that, and it's really more of a version of
    Ten Little Indians
. But it was a fun movie.

I agree as soon as I finished reading this for school I thought that if this was done right it would be an amazing movie. Their making so many horrible remakes nowdays of movies that don't deserve to be revived its time they made one worth watching.

Ever see the episode "The Hunter" from Gilligan's Island? Rory Calhoun played the the villain going after Gilligan. Laugh if you want, but it's a direct take off of Most Dangerous Game.
If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!

This Herner Werzog fellow, is he related to this Werner Herzog I've been hearing so much about.
And yes, they should make a proper remake and again yes, Daniel Day Lewis would be perfect as the count.

Yes indeed! He'd be wonderful, and long overdue for a proper remake. But only one that would stay true to the original tale.

"if done right." Ah! Therein lies the rub!
I don't mind remakes but I object to their being updated. The charm of the original is invariably lost.

I quite agree with you, do a remake.not an update nor a change; look what they did with the new King Kong by Peter Jackson, changed characters and their personalities, ruined a great movie.
Never depend on anything and you will never be disappointed.

I remember seeing this as a kid. I'd love to see it again. I didn't know it was so old.
When I saw Hunger Games last night I remembered it. I thought HG was very good.

Personally, I like the version they did on Get Smart the best.

                              My suggestion for a remake:
Idris Elba as Zaroff, a big game hunter who left America years earlier, tired of all the bickering, racial strife and political shenanigans. He lost himself in hunting all over the world.
Eventually, that got old as it was not challenging enough. He is super rich (from the mega book and movie deals surrounding his hunting) but lives in seclusion on an island as he believes the "civilized" world to be worse than the animal one. He has a trusted aide (I'm thinking Ron Perlman) and a few servants who do his business with the outside world. Soon, most people forget about him.
One day, he comes across a book in his library (he can't remember where he picked it up at) and reads it. It convinces him that he needs to use his talents and resources to make the world a better place.
His only real talent is hunting and he comes around to thinking that he can best serve the world by culling the weak from the strong. In this case, he chooses the self-professed power-makers, the so-called powers behind the throne. Super PAC leaders, pollsters, lobbyists, all who claim to want to help people.
Zaroff lures them to his island and gives them an offer. If they truly have the mettle to be leaders, he will give them 24 hours to survive. If they live and prove their strength, he will fund their next campaigns. Of course, since most such people only talk a good game, they all fail.
Along comes a husband-and-wife lobbyist team. Years ago, they sincerely believed they could make a difference. Time and the constant presence of big money and corruption have worn them down until they are no better than any other lobbyist. However, they try to rediscover their old selves by accepting an offer to vacation at a private resort to reflect. They pay their own way.
They arrive at the same time as three other couples, two couples of whom they recognize and the third that they've heard about. They thought they were going to be at the resort alone. Then, they meet Zaroff, who explains his offer. His right-hand man and the servants back him up with weapons and the revealing of an elaborate security system.
Within 18 hours, the other six are dead. Only our hero couple are left. They rediscover love and purpose while narrowly escaping death time after time.
Zaroff keeps his word and offers to fund their next campaign but they refuse his money. Oddly, he smiles. They leave the island.
The film ends with Zaroff and his henchmen watching, days later, as unidentified naval vessels converge on his island. He racks a round in the chamber of his rifle and tells his people that, this time, they are the hunted. Will they be strong enough for the challenge?
The movie would end there, with Zaroff trapped and cornered, just like many of the animals he hunted.

It has been remade many times with different titles: Run for the Sun is probably the best while the worst but most fun is Blood Lust lampooned by the MST3K crowd.

'The Most Dangerous Game' story continues to be popular. A TV series with that name ran from 2020 to 2023. A short movie with that title was released in 2022. After this original movie, here are the movies with that story:-
                                      1945 A GAME OF DEATH
                                      1956 RUN FOR THE SUN
                                      1961 BLOODLUST!
                                      1972 THE WOMAN HUNT
                                      1972 THE SUCKERS
1987 SLAVE GIRLS FROM BEYOND INFINITY
                                      2016 HOUNDS OF ZAROFF
