Listening to the police scanner…

You just sit around listening to police scanners? That's so lame

It was actually good entertainment back in the day. You kids today have it good with your new fangled internet. All that you had prior to that, was books, radio, TV, and if you were like me, beer or marijuana for entertainment.
Back then your scanner could pick up your neighbors talking on their portable phones, and you could even hear cell phones, prior to them going digital.

Yes Joc. They’re all digital now. Most police and other emergency services (as well as most businesses) used what’s referred to as “trunked frequencies”. So if you do get one, try to get a “trunk tracker” scanner. They might even all come that way now, but I don’t know for sure.

It's digital.
I think that ever since TV went digital, everything else did too.
We usually listen on the weekends. More action!
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

My cousin had an analog scanner but I haven't been to their house since 2016. So buying a good used one would be a waste of money now?

I can remember the analogs. We were actually able to listen to people having phone conversations.
Crazy ****!
