OK, is everyone skirting the kissing issue? When Dana and Linda were dancing in the sleazy cafe, he suddenly pulls her into the shadows, and you KNOW that there is more going on than the typical no-nonsense, censored kiss from the 1940's. Listen to the commentary given by whoever-that-man-was and Dana's daughter. It gets even a little more spicier as they walk down to the beach. Don't tell me you all haven't thought of posting something about it before!!!

How 'bout Linda Darnell? She is so totally hot in this film - and Dana Andrews not so bad himself! I did not even notice the kiss scene the first time I watched

because I was so taken with their non-kiss previously. At the end of their first dance, the music stops before Dana Andrews can kiss her. His head is titled and Darnell's lips are slightly and peeks up at him. Just, wow.
Dana Andrews' daughter was pretty funny on the commentary -
"This scene gives me that uncomfortable feeling"
when the couple are going at it on the beach.
Well, why don't we call it "research" or something? -

You think maybe there was a little tongue involved? That is pretty daring for 1945, but Preminger was always one to push the envelope.
But I thought you were talking about the first kiss between Dana Andrews and Alice Faye. Right after she finally shows a little passion and says "I love you." The camera moves around from above and we see a startled look on Andrews' face, then they kiss. A beautifully filmed moment, I think the best shot in the film.
