Can you imagine if Santa Claus saw how bad commercialism is now, the likes of all the Black Friday fights and violence as a shining example? Violence would be met with just violence but he'd eventually break his cane from hitting so many idiots on the head with it.

LOL! As one who has never nor will ever shop on "black friday" and one who is truly offended by terms such as "doorbusters", I have to agree. I think Kris would have finally called it quits for good if he saw today's disgusting behavior by Christmas shoppers (excuse me;

I've never done Black Friday shopping either, I refuse to risk my life and limb for a derivative product that'll probably already be broken from 20 morons fighting over it. Growing up I didn't even know such a day existed, to me the Friday after Thanksgiving was just an extra day off school and part of a 4 day weekend to stay home and play, growing up we were always told Christmas Eve was THE worst day to try doing any Christmas shopping because everybody's doing it then.

Many decades ago, before we had the ' Presidents Day ' holiday, there were separate holidays for Lincoln and Washington. On Washington's Birthday, some of the big department stores in New York City would hold these huge basement sales, where they would blow stuff out at ridiculous prices. I never went to them ( too young and didn't live in NY ), but I remember seeing the news stories about the sales. There were always huge crowds, but I don't have any recollection of there being the madness that we presently see with the Black Friday sales. As for my personal experience with Black Friday sales, I've only partaken in one, and I didn't go out till late morning. About 15 years ago I went by Comp USA and picked up a Case Logic briefcase for my laptop for $10. Great deal! Still have it!

I think you got it all wrong The 'Black Friday' hoop-la is now on decline. While her son rants and raves in his bedroom 'Thelma Ritter' has her feet up on the Ottoman with a smile om her face 'clicking' away making a purchase clear accross the country. Macy doesn't have it Gimble doesn't have it who cares. There are hundreds accross the country willing to step forward. Not only that but now Thelma's choice has multiplied. And if for some reason she made a mistake and purchased the wrong item No problem Slap on a return lable and send it back.
