Just because you get stood up, doesn't mean you marry a woman you don't love and whom you suspect doesn't love you. It's not fair to yourself or the other woman. That was a plot hole.

It is implied that Corrine took advantage of Mark's vulnerability over Barbara's 'rejection', considering Corrine's loose nature.

It may not be fair but people do it all the time. It's called "being on the rebound".
