It really seems to be a first of its kind

This seems to be one of if not the first movie to deal with the awkwardness and the pains of adolescence. Does anybody else think so? I mean 3 years later Rebel Without a Cause became the big movie that dealt with the problems of the teenager, but I was watching this movie last night, and all the while Frankie is talking and Berenice misunderstands her and Frankie crying 'That's NOT what I mean! That's not what I'm talking about!', I think all of us when we were growing up had those days. And how much she wanted to be a part of something, and anybody who wasn't a member of anything as a kid, not in any group, not belonging to anything, feeling alone. Nobody talks about it but I think more people can relate to Frankie than are willing to admit it. And yet this movie seems to go unforgotten practically regarding the troubles kids face with growing up. What's everybody else think?
