Why movies were approved prior to the rating era, for "General Audiences", for "Adult Audiences" or "Restricted Audiences"? Why this movie received a "General Audience" advisory?

Rewatch Heatwave and After You Get What You Want You Don't Want It again for the answer.
          "Hey,Cos,do something!Call me a Cab!"

Has anyone noticed that the audience in the first big show number by the Five Donohues - "Alexander's Ragtime Band" - seems to be identical to the one on their closing night, something that happened also in "Singin' in the Rain"?

when I was in college in Arizona, they filmed all the concert scenes - inside and outside - for Stresand's & Kristofferson's "A Star is Born" remake all at once. During spring break, they used sun Devil Stadium and had an all day and all night concert with all kinds of great bands, and it was free to get in, and they just kept filming the crowd and used those shots to represent every outdoor concert shown in the film.
Same with the inside concerts - the following week they let us all into the Frank Lloyd Wright designed auditorium to stay all day and act as the audience for every indoor concert shown in the film. Barbra came out adn talked to us and sang to us. That was totally not her job, and I'm still impressed to this day.
