I've always been curious as to the location of The Trappes motel in 'Elevator to the Gallows' and while googling I learned that the motel was actually in Normandy, not in Paris proper. There were no actual motels back then in France from what many articles said so Malle travelled to Normandy where he located this mid-century modern gem-of-a-motel. This motel had many features that were only to be found in motels in the states, like private bungalows, carport/garage, etc..
I have no clue if it's still around, but I would love to travel back to France just to book a night at that place! I loved the entire movie, but those motel scenes were too cool..Now, back to google to see if this motel is still thereHope this info helps, here's one of many links stating the Normandy locale

Same here! I love all kinds of music but I always come home to my Floyd! I am a big Syd Barrett fan and I love the early stuff- as well as the later stuff
I've seen Roger and David solo too - but, we shouldn't post here on this forum about Pink Floyd because others may think we got off topic!
