I doubt they had sex-he was pretty sick by that point. Probably just kissed and cuddled and maybe even slept in the bed together. Come on, people, grow up. When you have a bad fever and a painful wound, you don't feel like doing very much.

My first reaction was to agree with zanza862, but you also have to take into account the fact that he has been in prison for a long time. He long pretty well the next morning, so I'm guessing he was fit enough to have sex.

Mark, it's true he was in prison a long time and probably ready to jump anything with a little mascara, but it's also true he was so sick and weak that he collapsed and was unconscious with a fever and infected wound on his wrist. I'm still thinking that he wouldn't have been feeling well enough to actually do anything more than kissing and feeling the woman up and they probably slept in the bed together. He probably looked better in the morning BECAUSE they didn't do very much and he slept all night.

I know I'm answering and old post, but I just rewatched this the other day. They most certainly DID have sex. When they were talking in bed ( I can't remember the words, but they were tender), the camera pans slowly from the couple upwards to the window. That was a hallmark sign of movies of a bygone era to say a little whoopee was about to commence.

It was beyond obvious that these two had sex,I just watched the moviethey couldn't show anything more than the grabbing of hair but the chemistry between the Curtis and Williams was white hot. Also, his behavior afterward, with the car and all, his willingness to let Poitier slog through the swamp all points to more than a little cuddling had gone on the night before.

Saw it last night. The Sheriff asked her if she had done something wrong, or words to that effect. She said something like, nothing they would put you in jail for. I think that was a reference to sex with Joker.
