I'm a Scot and it never entered my head to find this film in any way offensive.
There are things in this world worth taking offense from. This film isn't one of them.
It's a shame to have such a ridiculous thread title on this great little film's page.

I personally enjoyed hearing that musical accent. If anyone should be offended it is Southern people when actors murder the southern accents in movies.
MY gosh, there is more than one southern accent too. Do some research you actors.

If you found the great actor Theodore Bikel playing a part of a Scottish handyman in a fifty year old horror movie ethnically offensive, I recommend that you urgently seek professional help or relocate to Htrae.

Bikel was a great folk singer too. Some people seem to be born multitalented and interesting, and he was one. I bet he didn't have a thin skin, either.

I think Theodore Bikel would be offended that you think he is no longer multitalented or interesting. Especially since (according to you) he no longer has a thick skin.

With that makeup etc I didn't notice it was Theodore Bikel till near the end, some job he and the makeup people did.
BTW two STAR TREK related things in this film:
Gerald Fried who also did music for ST
and WESTHEIMER sp who did FX for ST.
Now STAR TREK TOS had a Scot

How do you think the Americans feel? It takes a special man to snag his overcoat on a smoothly rounded gravestone. And no, I don't think he was carrying spare pins in his pocket.

Oh get over it. I'm part Scottish and I could care less. Quit acting like you're a minority, you don't have it rough.

Geez, good grief. Did any African-Americans complain about Clive Barker's Candyman?! Stop whining and get over yourself.

LOL! I asked Tony what it was like to play that role, and his response was simply, "It's like any other part. You audition, and if you're accepted you play the role. That's all there is to it." o_O Not what I expected to hear, but I guess he had a long weekend and was tired of questions. Now, who thinks a remake with Samuel L. beep Jackson would be badass? 😉
Getting back to bad accents and offending certain nationalities All I have to say is: Brad Pitt in "Snatch". Great role, but I think his accent was only there to add more comic relief to his character.
