I'm really enjoying discovering Paul Newman's acting work, and see this movie for sale for a decent price. Is this something that would be worth having in my DVD collection? My favorite other movies of his are THE HUSTLER, COOL HAND LUKE, and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF.

Most definitely! If you're in doubt, rent it first. I bought it without renting it based on other people's comments and it's become one of my favorites. The dialogue is wonderful, and the chemistry between Newman and Woodward is as good as it gets. I never get tired of this movie.

Paul Newman was quoted to saying that his worst movie was "The Silver Chalice". I
loved it.
He hated everything from his curly hair, his skinny legs to his showing off his profile.
I guess the man has to know his own or just couldn't live with himself. I thought the plot of the movie was good and he was just truly fine in it. -

yes it's worth buying especially for the sparks between Him & Joanne particularly in the last 3rd of the film as she was newly expecting their first child when those scenes were shot only to lose that sweet baby just weeks before the world premier
"why are you married to him then if you can't work with him how do you live with him?"
