No actually they had originally fallen in love on broadway in the 1953 production of Picnic and this is were their relationship was getting serious and previously untold story over at his board had it that she was prego with their first child before production was finished and sadly miscarried on their honeymoon in London only to get pregnant again in late June early July 1958 and give birth to Nell On 8th April 1959 it's a shame and I'm surprized it didn't leak out before now especially in the tabloid driven media stories like that sell massive amounts of papers tragically it is true she did loose their first child but it was hushed up by the studio not to jeapordise her career and most likely also her fragile condition

More recent tellings suggest that they had already fallen for one another before this film was made and were just waiting for Newman for the dissolution of Newman's first marriage to marry and actuaaly be together publicly.
Aside from that, I thought they played their parts perfectly. By the end I thought the onscreen chemistry between them was electrifying. I can acknowledg what a good film I
thought
it was and evaluate the merit of their dramatic performances but really, by the end, it was just a totally teenage ZOMG! THEY ARE SO PERFECT TOGETHER! kind of reaction. It just emenated off the screen as the film progressed. -

they were deffiantely wild for each other and managed to stay in love until the end unlike so many couples in the industry.
