I always loved Roddy McDowell. There was always something very touching and vulnerable in his performances. Being a closeted gay male at a time when society condemned such a lifestyle must have been incredibly difficult. He was a beloved person and had an enormous group of friends. He was a wonderful confidante. I remember once reading that someone asked him to write a book about all the secrets he had on his friends. He replied something to the effect, "Well if I did that, then I wouldn't have any friends, would I?"

I love all these. The one that really did it for me was Night Call. "Miss Keane, it's a fallen wire. At the cemetery." Eeek. One of my favorite eps, she's all alone, seems to live out in the middle of nowhere. Very effective creep factor.

Thanks, Kr! I actually read on this board the Night Call ep was changed from the short story. In the original, it's not her long dead boyfriend on the phone, but an unknown menacing caller. He then says "I'll be right over." That would have been utterly chilling. Have you heard that? Wonder why they changed it.

I think I might have read that on Wikipedia. Or maybe it was here, I don't know. But I agree, that would have been much more terrifying.

She'd already been living a miserable existence for decades because of the car accident - she didn't need to be "punished" any more.
I completely agree. The performances in this episode are first rate, but the story is really unsatisfying.

"The Silence" definitely had a great twist that really makes you think. "A Stop at Willoughby" had a good one when you see the hearse at the end. "To Serve Man" is another classic twist.
