Just saw this last night after hearing about it for years. What a fun little movie. Not really horror but has all the fun grisly elements a horror lover likes. And Dick Miller is a hoot! Can't believe he was EVER young! Nice companion piece to "Little Shop Of Horrors" tooalmost like its darker relative, ha ha. And say what you want about Roger Corman but he knew his stuff! He really knew how to stretch a buck, and how to keep a movie hiking along without resorting to explicit exploitation.
Didn't rock my world or anything but it was a VERY entertaining little flick!

Exactly. A fun little low budget movie.

Don't know why you use words like "bad" and "crappy" to describe this. The movie is actually very well made: nice black-and-white photography, good use of the camera to tell the story, an amsuing script with a good premise for a spoof of HOUSE OF WAX, and some great performances to boot.
I suppose the humor may be a bit ham-handed at times. bit mostly it hits the right tongue-in-cheek tone.

I thought it was brilliant, myself. It's definitely NOT a so-bad-it's-good type.

Good film and definitely seems like a House of Wax spoof, but
              SPOILER
Carla must be one of the dumbest horror movie women ever (and that's saying a lot) to run out of a crowded coffeehouse artshow into the darkened streets where he was more likely to be able to kill her.

If you're watching 'Fullscreen' DVDs, you aren't getting the whole picture.

Haha. Yeah, you've got to love those dumb horror movie folks who do exactly what they shouldn't do.

I'm pretty sure this movie was comical to the people who saw it when it came out too, but not in a bad way. It's fun horror, not that different say from the famous E.C. Comics of the 1950s like "Tales from the Crypt."
Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'

Its not bad - I watched it, having previously only seen It Conquered The World from Corman, so expecting another bout of dumb fun and Ed Wood-styled entertaining awfulness, but what I ended up seeing was a rather biting satire and an obviously intentionally funny movie (one of the best one-liners: "Wasnt that nice of Naolia to give me this expensive horse!") It wasnt even too badly acted and to top it all off, the ending of the film with Walter escaping through the dark backlots to the jazz tune was quite masterfully rendered. Its a good film.
PS: Walter looked like Dominique Pinon of Delicatessen fame, the guy who first discovered the sculpt stuffing looked like Al Pacino as Michael Corleone and one of the two ever-present stoners looked like Mike Patton.
"facts are stupid things" - Ronald Reagan

Any film this entertaining is not "bad" in my book. This has an effective blend of comedy and horror, never an easy accomplishment. 7/10 stars from me.

It may be bad, but it's bad in a good way. This is one of Coreman's better films.

I just watched this and thought it was a fun movie (also gave it a 7/10). I was entertained the whole way through! I don't understand why so many people are saying it's a "bad movie." The actors all did a good job, and it was nicely filmed.
