Is this the most random way to introduce a new character as being a wrongen? Why did he need to include the rest of the family in the scam? So they can vouch for him to the insurance company?

It looked like he'd done it before. Maybe something he did back in Canada for extra money.
No doubt it will be Daniel who finds out what he's up to and possibly use it as blackmail to get closer to the family.
Or maybe Tracy, but she will most likely be impressed and want a cut of his earnings to keep quiet about what he's doing.

I thought he was a solicitor. This seems to be an odd way to make money, if he is caught breaking the law he will be struck off.
