An article on MSN has revealed that Eileen Derbyshire has decided not to come back to Corrie.
How would you write Emily out off-screen?
I think I would have her find romance with a fellow aid worker in Peru and decide to marry him and continue to work together out there. That would be a lovely ending for her. -

I read that too, I'm hoping it's made up like most of their 'news'. I would hope she would return to film her final scenes like Betty in Emmerdale - they had that she met a fabulously rich pensioner and was emigrating with him but came back to say goodbye!
Goodnight, good luck and may your God go with you -

I suppose at 85 she would like a less busy life. I was very glad to get out of work at 58 so I really admire her for staying so long. She's had nearly a year off and I'm sure it would be hard to get back into it.

I'm glad it's been denied.
I imagine that had Eileen wanted to leave, she would happpily have returned for a day to film a few final scenes. If I were writing her out I'd have her die peacefully at home, with Rita and Norris present. -

She lived in a flat on Rosamund Street. She went to live in Harrogate (her hometown) to nurse her father from 1966 to 1967, before returning and moving into the corner shop flat. Some point afterwards she moved into the Rovers Return. And of course (as you pointed out) she moved into No.3 after marrying Ernie.
