That happens a lot when you're more of a reader than listener. You should have heard my pronunciations of Nietzsche when I first read something from him when I was 15. I thought it was like niche.

I now say it like nee-cha, but it was nitch at 15 and nee-chee for a long time after.

That’s mental. I always pronounced it hyper-bowl but I’ve heard it as “hi-perbolee” before and it never registered in my head that’s how it’s supposed to be pronounced.
This is like when W said “nuke-you-lar” or whatever when he tried to say nuclear. I feel so dumb.
