In "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" when Fred gets hit by the baseball he picks it up and reads it. "Official Pee Wee League Baseball Ford Brick President" At the time the episode was made the commissioner of baseball was Ford Frick.
I think this is one of those things on a show this old where the joke is lost on later generations. -

Much like the episode from season 6 called "Shinrock A Go-Go". I had no idea there was a show called "Shindig!". "Shindig!" stars Jimmy O'Neill, whose name on the show is Jimmy O'Neillstone.
As well, when Fred is teaching the president to do "The Frantic", he also has the secretary of defence do the dance. The secretary of defence's name is Robert McNamara. Judging by the picture on Wikipedia, the likeness of his cartoon character is spot on!
Plus, I didn't even know the Beau Brummels were a real band.
So, I agree. It gets lost on future generations.

only it's Fred living the dream, uh, nightmare
) 's use of The Beatles manager Brian Epstein, Eppy Briantstone.
Amanda Bynes is hot and Lindsay Lohan is not.

Regarding the previous pooster's mrention of Robert McNamamara, Simon and Garfunkel did a searing Bob Dylnesque (right down to the voice) parody subtitled "How I was Robert MacNamara;d into Submission"(the official title's "A Simple Desultory Phillic") and it is dang hilarious..!

Well that depends. A lot of people nowadays are too easy to write off people to laziness. In this era, any of these references are a five second google search away for a kid.
I'm only in my early 20s, so only part of my childhood was before the internet was a big thing. I admit I had no clue about who that Baseball reference was to, I couldn't even tell you too many baseball people are today. But I did know quite a few of the older music references on the Flintstones.
But back then and before my time, it may have took a trip to the public library to "get" obscure references before your time. (Unless you had someone in your circle to clue you in) Nowadays, you just fire up your phone or just stay lazy in the learning department.
