I always thought Wilma and Barney were pleasant at least with each other, where as Betty and Fred sort just seemed like they rubbed each other the wrong way lol
I thought it was like this also on I Love Lucy. Lucy and Fred always seemed like good friends, but there always seemed to be a little conflict between Ricky and Ethel, Ricky seemed annoyed by Ethel a lot.
But there is a scene from the Flintstones I SEEM to remember, I remember Fred and Betty being in the car together, Fred is driving, and I remember Wilma and Barney in another car, and it seemed like SOME HOW the each respective spouse got mixed upand Fred and Betty are driving around in a hurry trying to find Wilma and Barney. I have NO CLUE what I'm remembering but I do seem to remember such a scene.

Toking, I may be wrong but I THINK the scene you are describing is from The Blessed Event, when Fred and Barney are trying to get Wilma to the hospital to give birth to Pebbles. There is a lot of confusion in this scene. However, Betty is not in it.

It could be. I DO remember a lot of confusion, they were scurrying around in a hurry. It does though seem like the scene of Fred and Betty in the car was at night and they were dressed sort of formally, but I could be wrong.
I ALSO seem to remember a scene of Fred dressing up like Betty and Barney dressing up like Wilma to get into some party, but someone recently told me Fred dressed as Wilma and Barney as Betty. I was thinking though it was Fred as Betty since he was taller and had dark hair already.

Fred and Barney did imperonate their wives in the baking contest episode.
I don't recall any of the events you describe happening like that in the original series. However i wouldn't rule out either that you misremembered or perhaps it happened in one of the later sequel series.

"Monster Fred", Season 5. 1964-65. The ultimate in body-switching (by a "Ben Casey" doctor) since it had every one switched multiple times with everyone even with
the doctor, Len Frankenstone and Fred being switched.
). And this was to cure Fred's being switched into a baby by way of a second amnesiac episode (following season 1's first use of a doctor on the Stones, "The Split Personality".1960-61).

It was like this also on the Honeymooners.Ed and Alice seemed like good friends, but there always seemed to be conflict between Ralph and Trixie.
I find it was the other way around on I Love Lucy.Ricky and Ethel seemed to get along quite well, but Fred was often quite annoyed with Lucy. -

I agree about the Honeymooners. But on ILL, in a funny way to me Lucy and Fred kinda had a father/daughter relationship in ways. If I remember right there were times that Fred defended Lucy.
With Ricky and Ethel, I dunno, I got the impression Ricky felt, somehow superior to Ethel, like she was lower class or something..just the feeling I always got. -

Then there was the time in one of Season 6's (1965-1966) Gazoo's (either "The Stonefinger Caper" or "Two Men on a Dinosaur" when Betty gets Fred and Barney's names mixed up.)
Betty does DIDN'T CARE for FRED!!!!!

It is interesting to think about what would happen if two of the opposite couples died and were left where Wilma and Barney, or Betty and Fred. And I know that Betty wasn't always happy with Fred always being mad at Barney which for the most part for no good reason. It is something to think about, but I don't know if they would or even become a couple. But one thing for sure Fred wouldn't get mad at Barney anymore if he were dead.

I do see Wilma and Barney remaining friends if something happened to Fred and Betty.
I dunno about Fred and Betty..BUT for some reason if Wilma and Barney died I do see a scene where Betty is crying her eyes out while Fred is holding and comforting her, that scene just comes into my mindas to whether they'd remain close. I'm not sure.
