This movie was truly boring.

Holly is a very complex, flawed and afraid person. She's not easy to understand, and can come across as superficial and selfish on the surface. She's not everyone's cup of tea, that's for sure.
I don't blame you for not liking her, she's supposed to be frustrating. It's up to you whether a character with that much depth is worth figuring out or not. -

When I first saw the movie, I was like "why was all the fuss about this one, when it had actually nothing to like?"
But you know what I've grown to love it. People nowadays are so caught up in those fast-moving movies because of the editing. There are some movies that don't want you to expect a plot twist, or anything surprising, for example, Tess (1979), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), My Fair Lady (1964), mostly old movies
They just want to enjoy THE BEAUTY of the film.
THE ART DIRECTION, THE COSTUMES, THE BEAUTY OF THE ACTORS, THE MUSIC,
I actually couldn't care less for the story, I knew it was gonna be one of those love story where the protagonists come from different worlds, and every thing is trying to separate them. OKAY, I GET IT. But I've seen in this movie more
I just can't describe a movie starring AUDREY as boring, I mean, can't you just enjoy her beauty??? And the Music, doesn't it lift you up??
I actually love the movie, and whenever I feel down, I go watch it to get relaxed.
If you're used to movies like Avatar, Iron Man, Spider man, Batman, etc. This one is not for you
This one is for people who are patient, and enjoy each minute of their lives.
And the fact that people have to be likeable, so the movie can be good ? I mean, are you out of your mind? I actually love it, when movie have mentally unstable or selfish-natured people. It's fun to watch.
This movie is a CLASSIC in my book. -

I watched it too and I feel the same. I have a feeling this movie does not capture Truman Capote's work at all. I did a little digging and found Capote utterly HATED this adaptation of his work. Firstly he said it was horribly miscast. Holly Golightly was supposed to be tough and ugly, not fragile and beautiful. The whole Mickey Rooney thing was a terrible mistake deeply regretted by both actor and director. In the end Capote said the movie resembled his book in the same way the Rockettes resemble the Bolshoi Ballet.

Everyone commenting on the fact that Holly is narcissistic, cruel, insane, unlikable, etc. and this "ruining the film" for them seems to be missing the point.
Yes, Holly IS all of those things. That's the point. She was never meant to be a likeable character. Especially in the novel, she is portrayed as using her life as a socialite as a facade to hide from her past. She's a complex, broken, unstable person who needs to be loved.
You are not supposed to adore her (though some, including myself, still do), the point is that you're suppose to feel sorry for her. At least, I think, that's what Capote was trying to accomplish. -

Until tonight I had only ever seen that famous last scene involving the main two characters, the poring rain and that cat. I must say I found that scene quiet emotionally captivating and I had been looking forward to seeing the entire movie. Now I have just seen the entire movie and I have to admit I found it slightly disappointing as a whole. Perhaps one other thing that contributed to the disappointment was that it did not actually feature Andy Williams vocal rendition of Moon River with in the movie itself.

Not having Andy Williams version is a big plus in it's favour for me!! Audrey sang it beautifully and naturally. Mancini's music score is superb. I have grown to love a film that I once thought tedious. As I have grown up I suppose my tastes have evolved, for me it is a superb film full of human fraility and wonderfully acted.

It's humorous to read the comments of people being offended and confused and bored. The movie is subtle and real. Like real life. Modern cinema has been dumbed down so much so people with 1 second attention spans can follow along that they can't get a classic whos plot isn't spoon fed to them on a silver platter.
It's the story of average people struggling to make it in life. Doing their best to get by and enjoy the little things. A cat. Browsing the 5 & 10. Peoples goofy behaviors. The index cards at the library. Window shopping at Tiffanys. -

Holly is , to put it simply, rather shallow, superficial and pretentious. Paul, a male prostitute!
If you think the characters are simply that, you did
not
get the movie.
I saw the poster and I thought it would be an outdated movie about a posh goldigger or something like that. I was surprised about how complex Holly was and about how a movie about an independent, free spirit could have been made in the early 60s before hippies were a thing!
