Of course, the very start where he refused to hang the moor captain captured that was looting and burning the Christian village. The captain swears to him lifetime loyalty because he was a man "with the vision to be just and the courage to be merciful." Hope you read this if your name is Borak Obama. And the scene where he refused to stab Ordonio, who tried to murder him.

Sheesh what nonsense! It's spelled Moor, Barack Obama, and I would think most people wished Bin Laden, the Taliban and assorted other zealots had "the vision to be just and the courage to be merciful."
That said the first scene in EL CID is very good. -

I just saw this classic movie yesterday for the first time.
A great scene was when El Cid makes Alfonso swear on the bible that he had no part in the assassination of Sancho.
Another very moving scene was when Alfonso finally recognizes his mistakes and shouts "I am no king but now I will become one" - I couldn't find the exact words here.

well one thing i always remembered was the battle with the daddy, but as i watched it now, notice when he hugs his wife and children, and at his back the small hands appears to be his wife's, and the on her majestys secret service barn like scene. notice the one actress that looked like a teen and spoke like a granny. i've had this on vhs and recently now saw it on dvd, the picture quality is amazing.
i push my hat over my eyes,
travellin in the gloomy miles,
as the calendar page,
draws you right to my way,
beside the country road,
long as i can i want to keep you close,
putting you on my shoulders,
so you can see the sunset clearer in the forest,
as i awaken by the horn,
tired of travellin alone.
