Oh GOD! I forgot about that part! YES!!!
Weekends were really bad. You didn't want to do it Friday or Saturday, so it was always a weight hanging over your head all weekend, and doing it on Sunday night just made the very thought of Monday even worse before Monday came.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Well, the responsibilities continued after the school days… I went into the military, then there were jobs after marriage… then a baby… etc…
I always dreamed that one day, I could just sleep in and not worry about being responsible for someone else, or having to be at a certain place at a certain time.
At 66, I am finally there! I can sleep in!!! I'm retired!!!
Years later??? Many years later….
Sadly, it doesn't work that way as you age. I'm lucky to get 6 straight hours of sleep a night.
Why do you think I'm up, watching kids trot off to school?
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Not that anyone cares. But there was an old song by the name of School Days. Pretty catchy tune. I looked it up, and it dates back to 1907. They used to play it as the introduction to the old time radio show,
The Quiz Kids
(1940’s and 50’s version of: Are you smarter than a 5th grader, but with kids that were the real deal)
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Reading and writing' and rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate, "I love you, Joe"
When we were a couple of kids
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Reading and writing' and rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate, "I love you, Joe"

I remember the song!
I have also heard of The Quiz Kids, but they were a little bit before my time, or before I can remember… I was born in 1955.
Wasn't there a scandal around that at the same time of the other quiz show scandals?
Having read Patty Duke's biography, I recall her being one of the Quiz Kids who had to testify in court.

It was before my time too. But I listen to a lot of old time radio.

I actually had to look this up, but then it jogged my memory, and then I recalled the scandal surrounding quiz shows in the 1950’s. I can’t post links yet, but below is what I found. It appears that it was the $64K question, that was the big offender. Couldn’t actually find anything dirty on The Quiz Kids
The American quiz show scandals of the 1950s were the result of the revelation that contestants of several popular television quiz shows were secretly given assistance by the producers to arrange the outcome of a supposed competition.
In Patty Duke’s 1959 executive session testimony to the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Subcommittee on Legislative Oversight, she admitted that she received answers in advance of her appearance on the $64,000 Challenge. -

This was it!
In Patty Duke’s 1959 executive session testimony to the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Subcommittee on Legislative Oversight, she admitted that she received answers in advance of her appearance on the $64,000 Challenge.
As for the Quiz Show Scandals, you should check out this movie, directed by Robert Redford.
It's based on the true story of what happened…
The movie is Quiz Show.
The documentary….

As long as you have money and no kids it's much easier than dealing with all that growing up stuff.
Then essentially, you never grew up???

And now you can laugh in their faces! You turned out great!
I had my share of barbs as well. I lived way outside of town, we had little money, so I wasn't one of the cool kids either. I had to work for anything I wanted. What I wanted was a horse. Lucky for me, I was able to ride for free, helping out at a nearby stable. I even got bullied because of that.

Some dumb ass kids will bully over any little thing just to make themselves feel better, I guess
It's very prejudiced and dumb to put kids down because their family doesn't have much money
The kids aren't the ones with the money, they have nothing to do with what their parents earn. They're just dopey kids who think they're somehow better
If we take the time to see with the heart and not with the mind, we shall see that we are surrounded completely by angels ~ Carlos Santana
Cool. Maybe I will some time.
