Any significance to Montresor referring to Fortunato as 'Sam'?

As they're walking home from the winesellers' convention, Montresor is loudly singing 'stop dat knockin', which was apparently a burlesque or minstrel song and was written in 1847. The refrain goes: "Who dat, who dat, who dat knockin' at my door? Am dat you, Sam?" That's where the name Sam comes from.
