Some people sure overreacted upon coming face to face with the Munsters

I know it was done for comedic purposes, and it was great for that, but still I feel that people really overreacted upon coming face to face with the Munsters. Herman I can see maybe a little jolt at first, but some people actually talked to him before seeing him and still had a horrible reaction even after Herman had been so nice to them.

It was basically like a reaction from an old "Caspar the Friendly Ghost" cartoon. The show wouldn't be as enjoyable without those reactions.

Oh I fully agree. Part of what made the show great. I still believe it was a dramatic overreaction, but like I said I know it was for comedic purposes (and it work great).

Committing suicide? Who did that? Let's be honest: you encounter a 7 ft.-tall Frankenstein Monster and a 4 ft.-tall werewolf in the street, are you just going to try to get to know them?

I don't recall suicides, but I do wish at least some of the people who talked to Herman before seeing him hadn't been chased away since he was always so nice! Although I think it worked well to use the chased away bit as comedy, I did enjoy those who stuck around though acted strangely around them very much. (And some didn't even act strangely at all once they actually got to know the family. Too bad none of Marylin's boyfriends even got over their fear to meet them).

Yep,
My Fair Munster
in which Grandpa made a love potion to make Marilyn irresistible to the opposite sex but then it was mistakenly ingested by Herman, Lily, and Eddie. The neighbor lady had the hots for Herman, the mailman lusted for Lily, and even Eddie had a swarm of schoolgirls chasing him. -

I must have been thinking about the widow next door Mrs Cartwright in Knock Wood, Here Comes Charlie who might have been drinking when Charlie comes over

Indeed, in the first episode, "Munster Masquerade," Herman, Lily and Grandpa attend a masquerade party hosted by Marilyn's boyfriend's parents. Herman dresses up in knight's armor, and his face is obscured by the visor on the helmet. When he wins the prize for best costume he is asked to reveal his identity. Instead of being scared out of their wits (and jumping out of windows), the other attendees believe he's wearing one mask under another!
Exactly like your father! A big, stupid, muscle-headed moron!
