My favorite scene was when Col Grady outwitted the thermo-nuclear barrier by getting all the air to air missiles to chase the rocket to a high altitude to get through to Moscow. He knew they were toast based on radiation they received and set the bomb to detonate and along with it the Vindicator. Grady was a great pilot and executed his mission to completion.

And that's the point. When the system is insane, even good people doing exactly what they should do can end up doing the wrong thing. Grady did what he had been taught to do supremely well but what he had been taught to do was wrongheaded.

I disagree. He was taught to attack the enemy. He received the order to attack and he did. It was a technical problem, but the plan to bomb the beep out of the Soviets kept the peace for decades.

Grady proved to be a much too good pilot under the circumstances, thus making a very pertinent point that there is such a thing as rigid military training being every bit a threat to mankind's safety as faulty machines.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

True, now it all may be put to the ultimate test.

You're obviously like Grady. You wouldn't care if the President and your wife told you it was a mistake. Pure evil.
