I think that "Unforgiven" was Eastwood's goodbye to the Western genre.

Wonder if anyone has ever approached him with the idea of revisiting that character one last time, be interesting to hear what he would say. Prolly would come down to someone making up a good script etc and showing it to him. He is a pretty good director after all.

He'd probably turn it down. This was Leone's trilogy.

Joe/Manco/Blondie is off fly fishing somewhere with Harry Callahan.

I loved Bronson as Harmonica, but would be really cool if Clint has played it instead like Leone first wanted, would be like a fourth dollar movie.

But Once Upon a Time in the West wasn't supposed to be a fourth Dollar movie. It's the start of a new trilogy and it's much different in tone to the Dollars movies. As much as I love Eastwood, Bronson played Harmonica to perfection, and I couldn't see anyone else in the role.

Nah, you shouldnt mess with a good thing. The Man with No Name trilogy is up there with the classics. Don't mess with it.

That's not what Leone wanted. Leone wanted Eastwood to be one of the three gunmen at the beginning by the railroad. The other two being Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach.

By now Clint would have to be playing the part of the old coot living by the railroad. Choo-choo! Tweeeeet!

Clint would be the first to say that the Dollars trilogy depended as much on Leone's directing as well as Eastwood's acting. Even if he were still young enough to do another Dollars film, he's not one for revisiting the past and even if he was, he wouldn't do it without Leone.

Leone tried to get him to do "Once Upon a Time in the West" right after TGTBTU
