Prior to the ambush by the Indians, they retrieved a couple of the stolen children. But later there is no more mention of them.
Maybe I missed it, but what became of them ?
When I'm gone I would like something to be named after me. A psychiatric disorder, for example.

Before the ambush the returned children are taken home by the sergeant and 2 Confederates - they later rejoin the command.

The fact that this plot point comes and goes very quickly is a testament to the incompetence of Sam Peckinpah in crafting the final shooting script.
