    The Manchurian Candidate
is probably too obvious a suggestion, but there it is.

Frankly, I think a good Marx brother movie would be the perfect follow-up to bring the more cynical of us back from the brink of hopeless despair, but if the theme is to top "Seconds" then I would vote for the "Wall."

There's a 1973 film called "Who?" that might have a vague similarity to Seconds.
Its about an American scientist who gets horribly burned while visiting the Soviet Union and the only way he can live is to wear a mask on his face, along with gloves on his hands which protects his body. Problem is, when he gets back to America nobody is quite sure he is who he claims he to be. Is he a spy pretending to be this scientist? They can't go back to the life he once had and his future is uncertain.
This has to be one of the most forgotten films ever. I watched it once on TV years ago and I remember it being a sad but pretty decent film.

I would have to say "Being John Malkovich." That film seems to be inspired alot by "Seconds," what with the eerily strange office building and the ability to be someone else for a period of time.

Yes, "The Face of Another". & how about "Eyes Without a Face" and "Suture"?

Yes "Suture" definitely. How about "Dark Passage", "Mullholland Drive" "Abra Los Ojos".

Going along with the face theme, how about Face/Off. Granted, it's no where near as brilliant as Seconds, or most of the other films mentioned.

I actually saw Seconds many years ago on TV very late at night; a few days later the film The Swimmer with Burt Lancaster was shown. I always link these films together.

"The Swimmer" is an obvious one, although I hadn't fully considered this until your post. It made me think of other mid-life crisis films such as Coppola's "The Rain People", Jack Lemmon in "Save the Tiger" or even Roger Moore in "The Man who Haunted Himself" with it's identity confusion, rebirth fantasy v. reality, and a clumsy sci-fi bolt on. Philosophically, "Peggy Sue Got Married" (if only), Rafelson's "The King of Marvin Gardens", even Brando in "Last Tango"(everyone should have the right to experience un-happiness) and Michael Reeves's "The Sorcerers" (the curse of the second chance); politically Orson Welles's "The Trial"(who are they?) and "The Parallax View" (is this the American dream?).

I'd put The Parallax View for my companion piece to Seconds. They both have that similar claustrophobic feeling, I always think.

Pi is exactly what i was thinking of. the style throughout reminded me of Pi and i sence that Aronofsky had seen this before making his movie (which in my opinion is way better, if unrelated plotwise)

As others have remarked, Hiroshi Teshigahara's "Tanin no kao" ("The Face of Another") is a perfect companion piece to this film.
