I think what he is getting at is because the PC warriors got offended for every little thing that IMDB decided to shut down the forums because there was "too much hate speech on here." Fkn ridiculous.

Well, from the looks of it political correctionists are aren't the only people who complain. Col Needham makes it seems like most of what the users do is just complain about each other or about the boards system, administrator response times and wrongfully deleted posts. But that's only part of the issue. The gist of it seems to be that it would take too much effort to upgrade the boards software and to appoint thick-skin around-the-clock moderators, as in guides, ushers, attendants, watchmen and technicians, and enough of them. -

In other words, they didn't feel like forking out the dough.
That's sounds like a load of crap anyways. I have frequented these boards for YEARS and yes you get the occasional person griping about how crappy this movie is and how crappy the message board is but the VAST majority were people who just enjoyed discussing their favorites films together.

A simple solution is to have every user pay a one off fee of ten dollars or make it annual. That should cover the costs. The millions that still want to be members can afford that. This should be the topic of petitions not, please save the boards or whatever sentiment corporate drones will just laugh at.
