Not that it needs a re-make, but if this movie was remade with a similar plot and subtle hilarious humour, would it work? and could any existing actor pull it off?
(I realise that in today's world no actor is going to play an hindu character etc. so you'd have to subtract that element)
I would like to see another interpretation of a similar plot, this movie is a classic.

Don't even think about remaking this one. Don't make me come over and strangle you.
Besides, the plotline and general atmosphere of the movie seems to be so intrinsically Sixties that I can't really see how it could be credibly transposed to a modern setting.

People who cry about remakes are idiotsdoes every copy of the original get destroyed in a fire once a remake is made, or something? -

Watched the movie yesterday for the first time and after it thats what I was thinking about too.
I can imagine a remake without the Hollywood big shots. Just a random party with a guy who is so out of place like Hrundi is in this Film. I can imagine Will Ferrell or Dana Carvey in such a role. -

I like the steve carrell idea because he's able to be bumbling but is still caring enough like Hrundi was.
What if you made it backwards, and had Steve Carrell attend an indian party and be the guy completely out of touch?
