Watched the movie yesterday for the first time and after it thats what I was thinking about too.
I can imagine a remake without the Hollywood big shots. Just a random party with a guy who is so out of place like Hrundi is in this Film. I can imagine Will Ferrell or Dana Carvey in such a role.

I like the steve carrell idea because he's able to be bumbling but is still caring enough like Hrundi was.
What if you made it backwards, and had Steve Carrell attend an indian party and be the guy completely out of touch?

They already did an episode of The Office like that where Michael Scott goes to a Diwali function.

            Steve Carell would be perfect
Hey son! Over here! I'm over here. At the banyan trees.

              If I would remake
              The Party
, I would switch it. Make it an obnoxious American in an Indian setting.

The guy from Big Bang Theory could pill it off.

There was an Indian movie named Namak Halaal Starring Amitabh Bacchan.
A portion of it was based on and was a scene to scene copy of The Party.

Sure, I think they could do a remake only this time with an actual Indian actor playing Hrundi. The central plot idea (a bumbling guy causing chaos at a party) can be done in a new interpretation and parodying today's overblown Hollywood lifestyles can be funny if done well.

The HQ always can make a remake.
