What's your favourite Peter Sellers film?
I bet it's a very tough decision. Certainly The Party stands up there along with Dr. Strangelove, Being There , A Shot in the Dark and Pink Panther.

The Party by a country mile. The Pink Panther movies were brilliant, as was Dr. Strangelove but Sellers' performance in the Party is masterful. His comic timing and delivery are excellent and he had a true flair for silent comedy.
I love the Party because it has that unique '60s feel to it but Sellers really carries the film. Without him in the lead role, it would have been nowhere near as funny. -

You are absolutely right. On all counts. If the Party has to be remade, it should star Geoffrey Rush who pulled off a brilliant portrayal of Peter. It's a shame the film "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers" didn't show a brief of 'The Party' but it would have been as well done as the other films portrayed in it. It's also a great shame that many of his earlier films [well, in Australia anyway] can't be shown. It's been a long time since films such as 'There's a Girl in My Soup, Hoffman, World of Henry Orient, etc, etc.] won't be seen again. So much talent lost.

i'm afraid i'll forget some movie here, but i enjoyed the millionaires, come to think of it i got to get the cd where sellers and sophia loren sings duets, i also really liked his performance in lolita, i tune in everytime tcm airs it, but my favorite sellers movie, and one of my favorite movies overall, is his last movie "being there". i think this sometimes airs on television around the new year, i've come by this since i was a kid, i haven't really gotten hooked on it just yet, of the "crazy 1960's comedies" i actually prefer austin powers doing his time travel there. alot of buzz on this board about this being the inspiration for mr bean (his new year celebration didn't seem to air this year either) that will make me look at this movie in a whole new way, i love mr bean.
new year,
without cheer,
since youre not joining me there,
in the new year,
how good it couldve been,
if you had the future with me spent,
it wouldve been full of cheer,
with anticipation for a brand new year,
as of now i'm just struggling to make it through,
the clock strikin twelve to enter a new year without you.
