Why did the apes have guns?

There are those who would argue that Battle did not occur in a different timeline, as Caesar's presence had no influence on the raised intelligence level (or the slave situation) of the ape masses.
He certainly provided leadership, but Caesar pointed out that apes on five continents would be likewise rebelling, and he certainly wouldn't be there. -

Yeah but they're not using primitive black powder muskets, they're using like legit assault rifles with bullets and clips. Maybe it's just me but I found that to be strange that their guns would randomly have become so strikingly similar to human weapons without human weapons having been an inspiration. Maybe this is better explained in the book, from what I hear the ape civilization is quite a bit more advanced in the book, they are on par with 1950's America. They have cars and TVs etc.

Look at the weapons Caesar had in his armory on Battle. Naturally, as the guns aged and needed replacing, the apes would copy those weapons. Over time there would end up being modifications as the one Taylor possesses.

I don't think the apes were necessarily ignorant of technology, even if they operated under the assumption that the apes invented it all. They may have still had awareness and knowledge, even if it was kept secret by the Orangutans. Even if their living conditions seemed primitive, I got the sense that was more out of choice than a lack of knowledge. Perhaps they had an aversion to technology overall, yet keeping a few guns around might still have been considered a good idea.

Guns can't survive for 2000 years, obviously the apes made them themselves.
If they could make cameras, wagons, pressurized water systems and perform brain surgery, then why shouldn't they be able to make guns? I think the apes in the movie are somewhere around the 19th century in terms of technology, and around the 15th century in terms of philosophy
