Most high streets in UK are identical to one another, there's always a Starbucks AND a Costa Coffee, Mountain Warehouse, Car phone Warehouse,Burger King, Boots, WH Smiths, some tacky tat shops + a million barbers and hair dressers.
That might have changed, I haven't been in a high street since March 2020! -

There's no way to put an air conditioner in those windows, except maybe portable ones. How hot/humid does it get there?
Also, if there's a fire, how does the fire department get a very large person out of those types of windows? -

I found this - I hope it doesn't get that hot/humid there!
If you've recently moved to Germany and are thinking about finding a place to stay, keep in mind that most people in Germany don't have air conditioning units in their homes. If keeping cool indoors during the summer is a top priority for you, you should add this to the list of things to consider. -

they are right, u know.
AC in private homes just didnt make sense (until very recently maybe, thanks to global warming) just like a fridge in the arctic polar regions would not make sense (yet}
most public spaces and offices here do have ACs tho.
suck it.
