I like your list and agree with much of it. I personally like Rosemary's Baby a bit better than The Shining. It is difficult for me to make such lists since I tend not to have absolutes. One day I might prefer one over the other.

I like a lot of the films in your listings, but no way is The Shining better than The Exorcist. And I noticed that Psycho was one of your oldest movies includedbut the majority of them were released in the last 40 years or so. You do know there were horror movies before 1975, right? Stuff like Horror of Dracula, The Wolfman, and The Haunting?

Not exactly what I'd choose since my ordering would differ, but it's a solid comprehensive list.
Vibarbs, since 'The Others' is #25 on your list, may I ask if you've ever see the 'The Innocents' (1961), starring Deborah Kerr?
'The Innocents' and 'The Others' are both based 'The Turn of the Screw', a superb mystery novel by Henry James. The Innocents, however, is a far better movie.
One of the more fun, scary story lines from the legendary cult classic TV series 'Dark Shadows' was also inspired by 'The Turn of the Screw'.
